Last night when I was asleep (as is generally a good idea at that period when the sun is shining in China) I was dreaming.

Now that is nothing particularly unusual. In fact, I dream a LOT. Not sure why, maybe it has to do with the toxic mobile home walls filling my brain with dreams, or maybe it has to do with throwing 100++ lb hay bales all day.

But anyway, I was in some sort of class with some other people where we were each given a verse from the Bible and we had to write an essay or something from that verse.

Well, my verse was II Timothy 2:19. I woke up early (again, nothing unusual, but still, more early than before I usually get up) and fumbled for my Bible over on the ground beside the couch (I know, I am sure you are amazed at the level of my piety by keeping my Bible right beside me while I sleep).

Now you have to understand that the books of I and II Timothy are some of my favorite books in the Bible. I always felt they were kind of written specifically to me. I know they weren’t, but it’s nice to pretend they were. šŸ™‚ So I was glad when the person in my dream gave me a verse in “my” book. šŸ™‚

Here it is: “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

So I’ve kind of been thinking about this verse. I read the whole chapter this morning over breakfast, because it’s good to get the whole context of the verse.

I would encourage you to read the whole 2nd chapter. Incidentally, verse 15 is one of my very favorite verses, kind of a life verse, you could say. It was interesting that my “essay assignment” verse was only a few verses away from that.

This verse encouraged and strengthened me and I wanted to share it with you! šŸ™‚

What a blessing that the Lord knows who are His, and a comforting thought! Also a reminder that if we are His, if we have decided to follow Him and made a commitment to Him, it would behoove us to depart from iniquity, to not sin, to stay away from evil ways. If we claim to be a follower of Christ, we’d better be acting like it.

And if this is our foundation, standing on the seal of God, it is a sure foundation.
